The SASS’s focus on research is shaped by the:
- intercultural space in which it is located,
- transnational character of the region’s successful, smart and inclusive transformation from rural region to one with high value-added industry and tourism, in which knowledge played the key role.
The activities of the SASS are guided by strategic orientations towards interdisciplinary areas, internationalisation, excellence and applicability in teaching and research. In terms of measurable scientific achievements per registered researcher, SASS is currently a leading social science institution in Slovenia.
SASS has extensive experience with management and implementation of EU co-financed projects. SASS is embedded in relevant international research networks, and it is hosting the National Committee of the UNESCO-sponsored programme, “Management of Social Transformations” (MOST2).
